On October 13th, 2017 Esmeralda Ballesha, the Coordination Unit of NBF was invited at SCAN TV program entitled “To talk”. During the program it was discussed the third phase of the fight against informality recently launched by the government and its impact on reducing fiscal evasion and informality.
Ms. Ballesha stated that it seems that the government still doesn’t have a long term strategic planning and also a clear vision in fighting informality, which should be preliminary, consulted with the business community. She also added that recently has been noticed by the third phase of action against informality, unfairness in tax inspections where the small businesses have had more inspections.
During the discussion it was also discussed about the VAT fragmentation in Albania where NBF recommends the reduction of VAT threshold from ALL 5 million to ALL 2 million. This fragmentation will cause also other taxes to have a fragmentation which is necessary for taxes to be simpler for small businesses, and will be an instrument to low reduce informality.
